Getting to the door

Vidigal is built on a hill with narrow roads, and some taxi and Uber drivers prefer not to drive up. The host's recommendation is to use the taxi driver he works with, who lives in Vidigal and knows the streets, or the airport pickup offered on the listing for a flat fee (R$120 when we checked in 2026; confirm when you book). It is strongly recommended if you have never been to Vidigal.
Moto-taxis are the fastest way up the hill without luggage, about R$10 a ride from the stand at Praça do Vidigal. With suitcases, arrange a car with Bruno instead.
The apartment is on the third floor and there is no elevator. Bruno or the house manager helps carry luggage up. Inside, the two floors are joined by a staircase, which is worth knowing if anyone in your group finds stairs hard.

Living on the hill
- Vidigal is a lively neighborhood. Expect music on weekend nights and the sound of motorbikes on the main road.
- The streets are steep and many connections are stairways. Pack shoes you can walk uphill in.
- Carry some cash for moto-taxis and small counters; Pix is widely used.
- Ask before photographing people or their homes.
